About
The Mt. Shasta Recreation and Parks District was organized on June 21, 1948 for the purpose of providing diversified, quality recreation programs for individuals of all ages, as well as, providing and adequately maintaining recreation facilities.
The Mt. Shasta Recreation and Parks District is classified as a “Special District” (an independent, local governmental entity). Funding for District operations is partially supported by special taxation, collected and administered through the Siskiyou County treasury. Fees for facility usage and program participation are also charged.
Headquarters of Mt Shasta Recreation and Parks District is located within the rustic, 26 acre Mt. Shasta City Park, one mile north of downtown Mt. Shasta. Owned by the District, park facilities include four, scenic picnic areas, a Gazebo, a playground, and public buildings. -
